Supporting NGOs that bridge resource gaps in Zambia's education system, from scholarships to inclusive learning.

Education Sector
ZIN Focus Area

Overview

While Zambia has achieved near-universal primary school enrollment (97.2%) through the "Free Education for All" policy, the system faces significant pressure from resource constraints, overcrowded classrooms, and rural barriers. ZIN places interns in Education, Social Work, and IT to help local organizations implement programmes, write grant proposals, and mentor at-risk youth.

Key Challenges

Severe shortages of desks, textbooks, and learning materials
High pupil-teacher ratios despite recruitment of 42,000+ teachers since 2022
30% of learners in rural areas live outside walking distance to school

How ZIN Helps

We place interns with backgrounds in Education, Social Work, and IT into local organizations to help implement programmes, write grant proposals, and provide direct mentoring to at-risk youth.

Success Indicator

Reduction in administrative backlog and increase in student-retention rates within partner organizations' scholarship programs.
